CAD/CAM Blocks & Discs
632 products
Dental cad cam discs and blocks are ordered on four numbers: diameter, thickness, material class and shade. This shelf holds more than 600 listings across zirconia discs and blocks, pmma discs, wax discs, hybrid ceramic blocks and ingots, from Aidite, Harvest Dental, Shofu Dental Corp, New Stetic, RMH3 Dental Supply and Keystone Industries.
Zirconia is the largest group. Aidite supplies 3D PRO zirconia discs 98mm in diameter at 12 mm thickness, along with the AiZir multilayer line, which builds a shade and translucency gradient into the puck so an anterior unit comes off the mill with a chroma transition rather than a flat body shade. Buyers searching for an aizir zirconia block should note this line is supplied as a disc rather than as a mill block. Pick translucency by indication: higher-strength, more opaque classes for long-span frameworks and posterior work, higher-translucency classes for anterior single units.
PMMA discs cover long-term temporaries, try-ins and full-arch provisionals, and wax discs such as the Harvest Dental Wax Press 98.5 range in 16, 18 and 20 mm thicknesses serve pressable and castable work. Hybrid ceramic blocks fit chairside and lab mills on standard block mandrels.
How to choose
- Confirm the diameter and the holder style your mill accepts before anything else; 98 mm is the common lab format, and blocks are keyed to specific mandrels.
- Pick the thickness from the tallest unit in the nest plus the sprue, not from the average unit.
- Choose the zirconia class by indication: strength and opacity for frameworks and posteriors, translucency for anteriors.
- Use multilayer discs when a shade gradient is wanted straight from the mill; use a monolayer plus staining when you control shade at the finish.
- Match the shade system to your case shade, and buy a shade you use often in quantity rather than one puck of everything.
- Order wax and PMMA by thickness as well as shade; these are the discs that most often turn out too thin for the case on the bench.
Frequently asked questions
What does 98 mm mean on a CAD/CAM disc?
It is the outside diameter of the blank, the standard open-system lab format, with thickness quoted separately, usually from about 10 mm up to 25 mm or more. Machines also expect a particular step or holder profile at the rim, so check that your mill takes the disc style as well as the diameter.
What is a multilayer zirconia disc?
A disc pressed with layered shade and translucency zones, so the incisal region is more translucent and less chromatic than the cervical region. Nesting the restoration at the right height in the puck gives a natural gradient off the mill and reduces the amount of external staining needed.
Is AiZir a block or a disc?
AiZir is Aidite's multilayer zirconia line, and it is stocked here as a disc for open-system lab mills rather than as a chairside mill block. If your workflow needs a mandrel-mounted block, look at the hybrid ceramic block listings on this shelf instead.
What are PMMA discs used for?
Long-term temporaries, full-arch provisionals, try-ins and denture bases in a digital workflow. PMMA mills fast, polishes well and is inexpensive enough to prototype a case before committing to zirconia, which makes it the usual material for a milled mock-up of an implant provisional.
How do discs ship and store?
Discs ship flat in their sealed manufacturer packaging from Northern Virginia, and in-stock items ordered by 3 PM ET go out the same day. Store blanks dry and flat; a green-state zirconia puck is fragile at the rim and chips if it is stacked loose.
