Denture Resins
533 products

Denture base resin is chosen by cure type before anything else, and this shelf carries all four: heat cure acrylic, self cure acrylic, pourable resins and orthodontic and retainer acrylics, in more than 500 listings from Keystone Industries, Garreco Dental, New Stetic, Lang Dental, TCS and Shofu Dental Corp.
Heat cure acrylic is packed at the dough stage into a closed flask and processed in a water bath. It gives the highest degree of conversion, the least residual monomer and the best dimensional stability, which is why finished dentures are still made this way. Self cure acrylic, also sold as quick cure or cold cure, is activated chemically and reaches a workable set in minutes, making it the choice for repairs, relines, orthodontic appliances and pour technique. Keystone's Millennium line is stocked as heat cure and quick cure liquids in 8 oz, 32 oz and quart sizes; New Stetic Opti-Cryl covers heat curing and self curing acrylic in original and clear, with powder in bulk tubs and monomer by the quart.
Orthodontic work has its own shelf here: New Stetic O-Cryl self curing orthodontic acrylic comes in clear and in colours including orange and fuchsia, with and without glitter, for retainers and appliances patients will actually wear.
How to choose
- Start with the process: flask and water bath means heat cure, chairside or bench repair means self cure, a hydro-flask means a pour resin.
- Order powder and liquid from the same line. The initiator and activator are split between the two components, so cross-brand mixes will not set predictably.
- Size the monomer separately from the powder. Liquids are stocked from 8 oz through 32 oz and quart, and monomer is usually what runs out first.
- Pick the shade before you pick the pack: original or standard pink for most bases, clear for try-ins, retainers and palatal work.
- For retainers and appliances, use an orthodontic acrylic rather than a denture base resin, and choose the colour at the same time as the size.
- If the case needs a flexible base, look at a thermoplastic system rather than a conventional PMMA resin; it is processed differently and is not repairable with denture repair acrylic.
Frequently asked questions
What is denture base resin?
It is the pink or clear polymethyl methacrylate that forms the body of a denture and holds the teeth. It is supplied as a polymer powder plus a liquid monomer, mixed to a set ratio, and cured by heat in a water bath, chemically at room temperature, or by pouring into a hydrocolloid mould.
Heat cure or self cure acrylic for a full denture?
Heat cure. Water-bath processing gives higher conversion, lower residual monomer and better dimensional accuracy than a chemically activated mix. Keep self cure acrylic for repairs, relines, additions, orthodontic appliances and pour-technique cases where speed matters more than the last increment of strength.
What is Opti-Cryl?
Opti-Cryl is New Stetic's denture acrylic line. It is stocked here in heat curing and self curing versions, in original and clear shades, with powder sold in bulk tubs and the self curing liquid monomer by the 32 oz bottle, so a lab can run both processing routes from one system.
How long does self cure acrylic take to set?
Working and setting times vary by product, but a self cure mix typically passes the sandy and stringy stages within a few minutes and is firm enough to trim shortly after. Curing under warm water in a pressure pot reduces porosity and residual monomer. Always follow the instructions supplied with the resin.
When will my resin order ship?
In-stock orders placed by 3 PM ET ship the same day from Northern Virginia. Liquid monomer is a flammable liquid, so quart and 32 oz liquids may be routed on a ground service; powders are unrestricted and ship with the rest of the order.
