Endodontic supplies for the whole root canal sequence, more than 1,700 products covering isolation, access, instrumentation, irrigation, obturation and the equipment that drives it. The department is organised the way a case runs. Rubber dam clamps, frames and sheet isolate the tooth. Endo files and reamers, in stainless steel hand instruments and NiTi rotary and reciprocating systems, negotiate and shape the canal. Irrigation syringes and side-vented needles disinfect it. Gutta percha points, paper points, sealers and obturation devices fill it.

Most buying decisions here come down to matching sizes across those steps: the ISO size and taper you shape to must match the paper points you dry with and the gutta percha points you fill with, or the fit at the apex is guesswork. That is why root canal supplies are usually restocked as a set rather than item by item, with the sizes a practice uses most, typically the small and mid ISO range, kept deeper than the rest.

Brands stocked include the RMH3 Dental Supply RayEndo Pro line of hand files, with C+ files and K-files in 21 mm, 25 mm and 31 mm working lengths sold six to a box, plus DiaDent, Pac-Dent, J-Morita, Angelus, Parkell, Keystone Industries and Cargus.

How to choose

  • Instrumentation: stainless steel hand files for glide path and negotiation, NiTi rotary or reciprocating systems for shaping curved canals.
  • Working length: 21 mm for posterior teeth and limited opening, 25 mm as the general default, 31 mm for long anterior roots.
  • Size matching: shape, dry and fill in the same ISO size and taper so paper points and gutta percha points seat at length.
  • Sealer chemistry: bioceramic, resin-based or zinc oxide eugenol, chosen for setting behaviour, radiopacity and retreatability.
  • Irrigation: needle gauge and a side-vented tip that suits your working length, with a luer-lock syringe size that gives you control.
  • Equipment: an endo motor and apex locator, or a combined unit, if you are moving from hand instrumentation to a rotary protocol.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to stock for a basic root canal setup?

Isolation (clamps, frame, dam), hand files for negotiation and glide path, a rotary or reciprocating system if you use one, irrigation syringes and needles, paper points, gutta percha points, a sealer, and an apex locator. Sizes should match across drying and filling.

Hand files or rotary files?

Hand files are still used to negotiate, establish patency and create a glide path, and they give the tactile feedback a motor cannot. Rotary NiTi shapes faster and stays centred in curved canals. Most protocols use both, with hand files opening the path a rotary file then follows.

How many files can I reuse?

Stainless steel hand files are inspected and discarded on deformation; NiTi rotary files are limited by cyclic fatigue, so most systems specify a canal or case count, and many practices treat rotary files as single-use in severely curved molars. Follow the instructions for the system you run.

Which ISO sizes should I keep deepest?

The small negotiation sizes, ISO 06 through 15, go fastest because they are the ones that bind, separate or bend, and mid sizes 20 through 40 cover most final apical preparations. Larger sizes and 31 mm lengths turn over slowly and can be held thinner.

How fast do endodontic orders ship?

Orders ship from our Northern Virginia warehouse, and in-stock endodontic supplies ordered by 3 PM ET go out the same day. Because file sizes run out one size at a time, it is worth ordering the small sizes in multiples rather than single boxes.
