Packaging & Case Delivery

A finished case is only as good as what it travels in. This department covers dental lab case boxes, laboratory mailers, work pans and the foam that keeps a restoration where you put it, about 200 listings from Keystone Industries, Directa, RMH3 Dental Supply, Harvest Dental and Handler.
Case boxes are chosen by span. Harvest Dental rigid boxes come as 1 inch crown boxes, 2 inch bridge boxes and 3.5 inch arch boxes with rounded corners, in black or dark blue with clear lids, some supplied with foam already fitted. Model and denture boxes and appliance care boxes in small and medium cover removable work and the box the patient takes home. Foam fillers and inserts are ordered separately so a single box size can hold a crown, a bridge or a full arch without rattling.
Inside the lab, lab case pans keep a case together between benches. Work pans such as the green plastic pan with a metal clip at 7.5 by 6 by 8.5 inches hold the model, the prescription and the parts through every stage, with work pan accessories and case organizers for shelving them. Mailers and shipping boxes finish the loop back to the practice.
How to choose
- Size the case box to the longest span it will hold: 1 inch for a crown, 2 inch for a bridge, 3.5 inch for an arch.
- Decide whether you want foam fitted or loose. Pre-foamed boxes are faster at the bench; separate inserts let you standardise on one box size.
- Choose the colour deliberately if you use box colour to sort by doctor, by stage or by due date.
- For work pans, check the footprint against your shelving and whether you need a clip for the prescription.
- For anything that goes out to the practice, use a mailer rated for the weight and give the model room on all six sides.
- Order case organizers and pan accessories with the pans; the storage system is what keeps a busy bench from losing parts.
Frequently asked questions
What size case box do I need?
Work from the span. A single crown fits a 1 inch rigid crown box, a short bridge needs a 2 inch bridge box, and a full arch or a mounted case needs a 3.5 inch arch box. Rounded-corner boxes with clear lids let a technician identify the case without opening it.
What is a lab case pan used for?
It keeps everything belonging to one case together while the case moves between benches: the models, the die, the prescription and any parts. Pans with a metal clip hold the paperwork upright, and matching organizers let pans be shelved in due-date order rather than stacked.
Do I need foam inserts?
For anything ceramic or milled, yes. Foam stops a restoration moving inside the box in transit, which is where most chipped margins come from. Some boxes are supplied pre-foamed; loose fillers and inserts let one box size be adapted to crowns, bridges and arch cases.
Are laboratory mailers reusable?
Mailer systems with a rigid outer and an inner case box are designed to make round trips between the lab and the practice, which is why they are sold in several colours so each practice can be assigned one. Inspect the closure and the foam each trip and retire a mailer once either is compressed.
How quickly does packaging ship?
In-stock boxes, pans and mailers ordered by 3 PM ET ship the same day from our Northern Virginia warehouse. Packaging is bulky rather than heavy, so ordering case boxes in full pack quantities usually costs less per unit delivered than reordering weekly.
